A good film starts with a good brief.
Practical answers about video costs, filming preparation, editing and delivery formats. Start with what you know—we can discuss the rest.
DISCUSS YOUR PROJECT ↗
A LITTLE PLANNING. A BETTER BRIEF.
Start with the viewer.
Before choosing a style, decide who the film is for and what you want them to understand. A buyer exploring a home needs different information from a supporter watching a club film. Your audience, message and viewing platform are a useful starting point.
01 / YOUR BUDGETWhat affects the cost of a video?
A quote depends on filming time, locations, travel, editing and the number of finished versions. Interviews, titles, music and footage supplied by you can also affect the work involved.
Send a rough budget if you have one. Include the main film and any shorter social edits you need, so the quote covers the full brief. Ask what feedback rounds and deliverables are included before agreeing the work.

02 / YOUR SCHEDULEHow long will filming and editing take?
The schedule depends on availability, access, the footage and the edit. Tell us both the preferred filming date and the date you need the finished video. For an event, include the important moments and the organiser’s timings.
Leave room for reviewing the edit and gathering feedback from everyone who needs to approve it. If your deadline is close, tell us at the first conversation so we can discuss a realistic scope.

03 / YOUR LOCATIONHow do I prepare a property for filming?
Confirm access and make sure the rooms and outdoor areas you want shown are ready. Tidy surfaces, remove personal items you don’t want in the film and let the crew know about occupied rooms, parking or access restrictions.
Share the property’s key features and tell us where the film will be used. A listing tour and a short social clip may need different shots. Check the upload requirements of your intended listing platform before agreeing the final format.

04 / YOUR FOOTAGEWhat should I send for an editing quote?
Describe how much footage you have, the file types, the finished length and any deadline. Share a reference film if there is a particular style you like. Mention logos, titles, interviews and any music you want included.
Keep the original files when possible and explain what permission you have to use supplied footage and music. We can discuss colour and sound after reviewing the material; the original recording determines what can be improved.
EXTERNAL VIDEO EDITING ↗
LANDSCAPE? VERTICAL? BOTH?
Tell us where it will live.
A website film, property listing and social post can have different needs. Include the channels you plan to use and which versions matter most. Agree lengths and formats before filming, rather than assuming one edit will suit every platform.
Five things for your brief.
- Your audience and main message
- Filming or editing—or both
- Location and preferred dates
- Where the film will be watched
- Your budget, if you have one
